Hello
I am a small town Manitoba mom that deals with anxiety, depression, and OCD. I am here to share my journey as a mom, break down the stereotypes of mental illnesses, and to share my love of farming. I am a wife to my best friend, Cody. He is my #1 supporter in everything I do. We welcomed the most perfect little boy, W, to our family in the summer of 2022. In January 2024, we welcomed our son Isaac who was too perfect for this world to stay.
My Mental Health Journey
In 2011, at the age of 14, I was diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and OCD. For many years I hid it. I was so afraid of someone finding out. As the years went on I started to feel more comfortable with my diagnosis, and I saw people around me struggling. I kind of just woke up one day and thought, why have I been hiding this? I slowly started to post on social media sharing resources and little peaks inside my world. In January 2023, I decided that it was time to start sharing my story in hopes that it would help just one person.
I am here to break down the wall of stigma associated with having a mental illness. I am here to share my love of farming. I am here to share my story as a mom and the tips and tricks I have learned along the way. So get ready and buckle up; who knows where we'll go.
My Goals
My first goal is to tell my story through my writing. I want my story to reach and help as many people as possible. I appreciate every share I receive and all of the kind comments. I want to make mental health struggles as commonly talked about as physical struggles. A lot of people aren’t as open as I am and that scares me so much. If I wasn’t open, I wouldn’t be here. I do not want to hear of another person struggling in silence because they did not want to speak up.
My second goal is to tell my story in person. Don’t get me wrong, my social anxiety will be a barrier for this, but I have always thought about doing this (so internet do your thing lol). I want to connect to people and be brave enough to get up and speak to a room full of people to show that I am not just a keyboard warrior, but someone who is brave enough to talk about struggles in real life. My hope is that my bravery of talking in front of people will inspire others to have the bravery to ask for the help they need or the bravery to share their own stories.
My third goal is to give people an outlet to tell their story. I have heard from so many people in my community that they want to share their story, but they don’t have an outlet they feel comfortable sharing with. I have decided to open up my blog to have guest writers, so you can tell your story. All you’ll have to do is click contact me and send me an email (just let me know if you would like to be published as the author, or you can keep your name a anonymous).
