Decompressing

We have had a crazy couple of weeks. We have had about 150 calves in the past 3 weeks, and last week's weather was horrible. I would like to have a talk with my ancestors who thought of the idea to leave good chocolate, beer and cheese to come live where the air hurts my face. After having a busy day or week my muscles are always tight from stress. I have learned in the past few years, and even more in the past 6 months, that decompressing after a day is so important.
Decompressing can look like a lot of things. Its just something to do at the end of the night that relaxes me before going to sleep; something that relaxes my shoulders from sitting at my ears. I find that the nights that I decompress I sleep better, and wake up feeling a lot better in the morning. I have always been a night owl. I love going to bed “early” but I end up staying up later that I probably should. There is just something that I love about the quiet at the end of the day when I don’t “belong” to anyone.

One of my favourite ways to decompress is a hot bath. Cody bought me a candle for Christmas with the scent called Sweater Weather (Who names candle scents? What sweater weather was supposed to smell like?). Just having some quiet time, sitting in the candle light in a hot bath melts the day away.
I have started reading before bed which is definitely more rewarding than scrolling through my phone mindlessly for hours. The book that I have chosen is “Spare” by Prince Harry. It is a truly a story that proves that you have no idea what is going on in someone’s mind, or behind closed doors.
Tonight Cody and I are having a movie night, which is also one of my favourite ways to decompress. I have a younger brother, and almost every Saturday night when we were growing up, we had movie nights. Most times we watched Harry Potter, which we can both recite every word to this day (it really pissed my mom off when we did that lol). We are both grown up now, but when I go back home for the weekend we still stay up making fun of movies and laughing way too hard.
Whatever your favourite was to decompress is, please make time for you this week. Remember you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Be kind and eat beef.
