When did Humans Become Less Humane?

Since I found out I was pregnant with W, I have really questioned where this world is going. The world just seems “off” the past few years. Last week I witnessed something that really had me questioning the world.

Cody, W and I were in Brandon, and there was someone who clearly needed help. Someone drove past the person that needed help, and when I say drove past, they were 3 feet away from this person; there is no way they didn’t see them. I briefly saw this person and knew there was something wrong so I called for help. My heart hurts for this person. A lot of people seem to forget that addictions and substance abuse issues are mental health issues. I’ve never really understood why people believe that someone’s walk of life determines if they “deserve help”.

When did humans become less humane? When did people start believing they are better than someone because of ______? Why do people judge others for things they cannot control?

People’s mindsets need to change. It’s time to start picking each other off the ground instead of just looking on from the sidelines. Please, next time you are in a situation that may have you judging someone, put your loved one’s face on them. How would you treat your family in the same situation? How would you like someone to treat your family if they were in the situation?

It’s time for us as humans, to become more humane again.
