Who am I?

I grew up on a farm and vowed to myself in high school that I would never marry a farmer. Well here we are 11 years down the road and as fate would have it, I married my farmer 2 years ago.

Currently I am on maternity leave, but I work for an amazing Ag company. My husband works on our farm full time, and we are proud cattle farmers. Every farmer needs a shadow and gate opener, so we were lucky to welcome our son to our family last summer.

Being a first time mom is hard. They don’t come with instruction manuals. There’s barely any training. Everyone has something to say about how you’re raising your baby. The hours are long. But the pay makes it all worth while. Some days are better than others. But I realized there might be something not quite right; highs were high and the lows were very low.

At 14 years old, I was diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and OCD. Well to add to that I am now dealing with postpartum depression, and Manitoba winter bring out seasonal depression also.

So why am I here?

I am here to break down the wall of stigma that is associated with having a mental illness.

I am here to raise awareness about farms. (If non-GMO foods are your thing, this probably won’t be the blog for you)

I am here to share my story as a first time mom and the tips and tricks I have learned along the way.
